Defiance East River Drive

Project size: 40.146 acres land, 34 acre wetland

Partners: the City of Defiance, the Nature Conservancy

This project focuses on restoring a tributary of the Maumee River that runs through agricultural fields in northwestern Ohio. Other goals of this project include decommissioning field drainage tile, constructing a floodplain wetland, and planting old agricultural fields with native plant species. The Defiance East River Drive project will slow the flow of agricultural and urban drainage through the land and improve biodiversity in the vicinity.
