Raccoon Creek Natural Shoreline Project

Sandusky County

This nature-based shoreline wetland restoration project involves the creation of a marsh island with a lakeward-facing breakwater 50’-100’offshore of the existing shoreline. It also includes 3.8 acres of habitat features and 1,750 square feet of woody habitat mattress. The project will filter agricultural drainage, increase diversity, and improve habitat for a variety of species (e.g., Blanding’s turtle, Northern Pike).
