Big Darby Creek Treatment Wetland

Franklin County | Big Darby Creek Watershed | Inland Central Ohio

This project is located within the floodplain of the state and nationally designated scenic river, Big Darby Creek. The project will remove an artificial embankment and create a floodplain wetland to restore function to the floodplain. This restoration will provide nutrient and sediment reduction and habitat creation in a watershed threatened by increased agricultural tiling, stormwater runoff, and sedimentation.

Project size: 20-25 acres

Partner: Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks
