Van Buren Dam Removal and Floodplain Wetland Restoration

This restoration is located within the Van Buren State Park which is a lush 296 acres that was originally inhabited by the Shawnee. The Van Buren dam removal involves the creating 55 acres of new wetlands and habitats within the previous reservoir area. The main objective was to decrease nutrient and sediment movement through the Rocky Ford Creek watershed.
