Clear Fork Preserve

Richland County

The project consists of acquisition, preservation, and restoration of 213 acres of land upstream from the Clear Fork Reservoir, the primary drinking water source for the City of Mansfield. The site is characterized by sloping topography into a wide valley, with substantial erosion of drainage features due to alteration of native vegetation and hydrology. The project will preserve and restore over 100 acres of floodplain; improve hydrologic connection to Clear Fork Reservoir; decommission drain tiles; restore waterways; increase wetland and riparian habitat; and most importantly, increase nutrient uptake, and reduce sedimentation and erosion.
